Picture Perfect!

Since starting the blog I have been so excited to share details about how I styled my engagement photos. I'm absolutely in love with every single one, and they turned out exactly how I imagined. Our photographer, Emily Boone of Emily Boone Photography, made the whole experience perfect from the very beginning. Here's an inside look at how I selected my engagement photo looks:

  • Selecting the location: Before thinking about what I wanted to wear, we need to narrow down where we would be taking our photos. After doing a little research into common engagement photo locations in our area, we came across the perfect place, a contemporary art and sculpture museum. The vibe was very romantic, and reminded us a lot of our wedding venue.

  • Choosing the look: While many couples opt for two drastically different looks, we loved the idea of getting dressed up. We decided to do two dressed up looks, with different styles. I settled on one long option and one short option to add a little variety.

  • Coordinating: Lucky for me, my fiancé has great fashion sense. He had a vision of how he wanted to look for our photos, and it fit with what I was thinking perfectly. He selected a great textured sport coat and rotated between wearing it, using it as a prop, and setting it aside to help create different looks.

  • Picking the perfect dresses: I wanted two different dress options, but I wasn't quite sure where to start. Our photographer sent us some recommendations of outfits to wear, and one of her ideas was a lighter, pastel color. After looking at what felt like hundreds of photos of our location, I decided that light pink would fit the light and airy look we were going for. For the other outfit, I actually came across my inspiration while looking at photos on Instagram. I came across a couple whose engagement photos were taken at the same location, and fell in love with the emerald green color of her dress. There's a stunning great room at the museum that featured a gorgeous teal couch. I knew immediately that I wanted to incorporate this room into our pictures and thought the emerald green color would compliment it perfectly. I used that photo as my inspiration as I searched my favorite boutiques. I ended up finding two dresses that I loved and couldn't be happier with the way our photos turned out!
